Member for Murray Adrian Piccoli has confirmed he'll be retiring from State Parliament, triggering another by-election for the region, following the recent retirement of Cootamundra MP, Katrina Hodgkinson.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Deputy Premier John Barilaro have both released statements thanking Mr Piccoli for his service to the state, in his 18 years as member for Murrumbidgee and, after the redistribution, for Murray.

He's also served as Deputy Nationals Leader and Minister for Education during that time, Mr Piccoli was the driver in NSW being the first state to agree to the Gonksi reofrms, and introduced the Local Schools, Local Decisions policy.
