Traces of asbestos have been located at Forest Hill Oval, in Wagga.
Works are underway to remove any traces of the toxic substance, a licensed contractor has been engaged to make the site safe.
It will take time to remediate the Oval on the corner of Elizabeth and Dunn avenues.
The removal works will help determine the extent of contamination.
