Wagga police closed off a number of streets and called in the Bomb Squad from Sydney, following the discovery of a suspicious device at a bus stop in Ziegler Avenue, Kooringal, yesterday.

The hand-made device, which has since been confirmed to have contained a flammable powder, saw police taking every precaution, with firefighters and paramedics also on scene.

The area was cordoned off for more than 5 hours, before the arrival of the Rescue and Bomb Squad saw the device diffused within minutes.

Investigations are continuing.
