A Wagga taxi operator says plans to release more taxi licenses into country areas could mark the death knell of country cabs.

John Collins is calling on the community to support battling taxi drivers in opposing the draft report from the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal.

A copy of a petition from the NSW Taxi Council is now in every taxi in country NSW, and they’re asking passengers to sign it.

Mr Collins says the market is already depleted in the country, and if the government accepts this report it will be the big corporations or foreign investors who will buy the licenses, and 'squeeze out the little guys'.
