Local firefighters worked quickly to contain a fire which broke out in the roof of the Cache building in Wagga’s Baylis Street yesterday afternoon.

Smoke began billowing from the building shortly after 3pm, the café and accommodation above was evacuated while around 30 firefighters went to work.

The owners of Cache, Renee and Anthony Shamron, were away at the time, but have taken to Facebook to thank staff for their courageous and quick thinking actions, in making sure no-one was left inside.
