The NSW Business Chamber is calling for compensation for retailers who’ve been affected by the state’s Container Deposit Scheme.

Murray Riverina Regional Manager Andrew Cottrill says some of their members have reported sales and profit losses in the order of 30 percent since the scheme was introduced, due to cheaper drink prices over the border in Victoria.

Mr Cottrill says retailers in the region also face additional costs, which aren’t faced by their competitors on the other side of the border.

The Chamber has also recommended IPART examine operational elements of the scheme, including cash flow impacts for businesses operating as a collection point.
