The latest Census data has confirmed that Wagga’s population is growing, with 62,385 people listing the city as their usual place of residence, an increase of 4.9% from 2011.

The figures have shown that Wagga locals are better off financially in some respects, with the median weekly income sitting at $696, compared to $662 dollars nationally, but on the other hand, household incomes are below average.
Weekly rents are more than $100 a week lower than the NSW average, and 4.9% of locals fall under the ‘mortgage stress’ category, compared to the state average of 7.4%.

Wagga locals are also younger, with a median age of 35, and more community-minded, almost 22% of us volunteer through an organisation or group, compared to the NSW average of 18.1%.
