Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro has unveiled dramatically reduced bus fares for Riverina travellers, fares dropping around 30% on average, as of yesterday.

The changes follow recommendations made by the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal following a review undertaken last year.

It's aimed at ensuring services deliverĀ  the best value for money for customers.

The state government hopes the simpler and cheaper fare structure will make bus services more appealing to residents across regional NSW.

10 standard fare bands have been introduced, the maximum adult fare for a short trip of three kilometres is now set at $2.30, while a trip of 200 kilometres or more, is capped at $48.20.
