Some of the Riverina’s local councils have been granted funding, to invest in programs designed to protect and manage roadside reserves, with the NSW Environmental Trust handing out $1.2 million dollars to 21 projects across the state.

The Wagga and Lockhart Councils have been awarded $88,000 in funding, while Temora Shire Council will get $47,000 , there’s $41,000 for Narrandera Shire, and almost $80,000 for Snowy Valleys.

President of Local Government NSW, Keith Rhoades says roadside reserves conserve habitat and prevent erosion, as well as having aesthetic and ecological value.
