Grain growers across the Riverina are being advised to urgently assess their paddocks, and determine whether mice are likely to pose a risk this season.

The GRDC says if mouse numbers are a concern, growers should consult with their bait supplier as soon as possible, to ensure they'll be able to access enough bait, before winter crops go in.

CSIRO researcher Steve Henry says it’s imperative that growers get out of the ute, walk into their paddocks and get a good feel for current mouse numbers and activity.
