The NSW DPI is contributing to a new national plan, to help open up domestic and export market opportuntiies for cherry and citrus producers across the RIVERINA.

The four year, $5 million scheme is looking to strengthen pest control measures, and is part of a partnership by Hort Innovation, the DPI and the CSIRO.

It's working with Local Land Services to monitor citrus orchards in Griffith and cherry orchards in Batlow, Young and Orange, so limits can be set relating to the risk of Queensland Fruit Fly.

Experts say maintaining areas free from Q-Fly and other pests is vital to ensuring growers can access both domestic and international markets.
