Funding Continued For Prostate Nurse
Position Guaranteed For Three Years
Wagga's Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurse will be able to continue, with the Murrumbidgee Local Health District pleased that the Federal government has committed to ongoing funding.
Cancer Services and Innovation Manager Angela Booth says together with the funding from the MLHD, the news means local co-ordinator Christine Britton's position will continue full-time for at least another 3 years.
Wagga's one of only 15 locations across Australia that has access to a prostate cancer specialist nurse.
Ms Britton provides practical and emotional support to local men diagnosed with the disease and their families, raises awareness about the importance of testing, and also provides education for other MLHD staff.
