Holiday road campaign kicks off
Motorists warned police will be out
With Christmas now just over a week away, police have launched Operation Safe Arrival overnight, double demerits are also set to kick in from December 22.
This year the campaign is focusing on backseat drivers, urging those not behind the wheel to speak up and save lives, if the driver is speeding, tired, distracted, or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The operation will continue until 11.59pm on New Years Day.
Meantime, the state government has launched its own campaign, Stop it or Cop It, with Cootamundra MP Steph Cooke urging motorists to re-think their on-road behaviour.
