The Country Labor candidate for Cootamundra has spoken out in opposition to plans from the state government to “re-engineer” the NSW Police Force, saying it’s nothing more than an attempt to downgrade, relocate and merge LACs.

There is speculation that 28 mergers will occur across the state, including merging the Cootamundra and Wagga LACs, which Labor fears could potentially reduce police numbers.

Labor candidate Charlie Sheahan says relocating specially trained officers to Wagga will mean a serious downgrade, he received backing yesterday from Guy Zangari, the Shadow Minister for Police.
