Farrer MP Sussan Ley has been praised by the RSPCA, after the introduction of a Private Members Bill in Parliament, looking to phase out the live export of sheep over the next five years.

RSPCA Australia Chair Gary Humphries has warmly congratulated Ms Ley, for reflecting the overwhelming science and the views of the community, that say it’s time for live export to come to an end.

Mr Humphries says the Bill is based around a very generous timeframe that will hasten the end of the trade in a steady, measured and sustainable way, and he’s urging Members of Parliament to support it.
