Ley On The Defence Over Travel Claims

Member for Farrer, Sussan Ley, has publicly released a report into her travel expenses, compiled on her request by the Department of Finance, following intense media speculation over her purchase of a Gold Coast apartment while on a work trip in 2015.

Ms. Ley says the Department found that over a 3 and a half year period, there had been one claim outside of the rules for ministerial entitlements, it was for a 5 minute car trip, and she had already repaid the claim.

The former Health and Sport Minister says she has also voluntarily repaid several other claims made during her time in Cabinet, even though they were within the rules, and dismissed any suggestion she logged flying hours for her pilots license on work trips as 'laughable'.
