Rural firefighters from the Southern Border team and Griffith have been deployed to the United States to help fight historic fires in the states of California and Oregon, as part of a team of 41 from NSW.

They’ve been working alongside 14,000 firefighters to keep multiple fires under control over the past 2 weeks.

Rural Fire Service Association President Ken Middleton says all RFS firefighters are world class, and they’re immensely proud to be able to lend a hand and offer support to the communities being devastated in the United States.

Their six week deployment will end in mid-September.
