People across the Wagga and Cootamundra Local Area Commands surrendered more a total of 292 firearms during the three-month-long National Firearms Amnesty, with NSW police releasing figures showing our state had the highest numbers.

Deputy Commissioner of Regional Field Operations, Gary Worboys, says it’s extremely encouraging to see community members recognising the danger posed by these weapons, and doing the right thing by handing them in or having them registered.

Nearly 10,000 firearms and related items were surrendered, 13,729 were registered, and 2,101 were acquired by dealers.
