Police have carried out inspections at several trucking companies as part of an operation targeting the supply of drugs across the Rivierina.

Several operations were carried out yesterday afternoon on short-haul logging trucks between Tumut and Tumbarumba , with officers from the Riverina District, the Dog Unit, Traffic and Highway Patrol and RMS.

They inspected 51 vehicles, conducted 85 random breath tests and 28 drug tests, issuing 19 traffic infringement and defect notices.

One 50 year old male truck driver was issued a cannabis caution.
