A 25 year old man is under police guard in hospital after several violent incidents in Narrandera overnight.

Officers were first called out at 1pm yesterday to reports of a domestic incident in Audley Street, but found the man had left the scene.

He returned home shortly after 10pm and was involved in an altercation with a 47 year old man, who was allegedly struck with a tomahawk.

He's since been transferred to Wagga Rural Referral Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Meantime, The 25 year old man sustained a stab wound to the abdomen and left the house.

He's then attended a service station on the Newell Highway, threatening the console operator and demanding cash.

A police pursuit commenced a short time later but was terminated, officers eventually apprehended the man shortly after 1 o'clock this morning.
