McCormack Hospitalised After Friendly Touch Game
Collided With Colleague's Shoulder
A friendly game of touch landed Riverina MP Michael McCormack in hospital yesterday, slightly concussed and with a badly cut lip, after running into the shoulder of a Coalition colleage.
The game was a showcase involving politicians, staffers, and current and past league players, in the lead-up to the World Cup.
Fairfax reports the offending shoulder belonged to Queensland Liberal Scott Buccholz, described by Mr McCormack afterwards as a 'man-mountain'.
The local MP was benched for the rest of the game, saying it wasn't until afterwards, when Barnaby Joyce was giving a speech, that his head started spinning.
