The Murrumbidgee Local Health District’s Patient Flow and Transport Unit is celebrating a milestone today, marking the co-ordination of 20,000 inter-facility patient transfers since it was established in Wagga in 2015.

The PFTU has also recently celebrated the commissioning of the Remote Medical Consultation Service, which provides supports to all MLHD facilities remotely, using telehealth platforms to assess patients when a Medical Officer is not available.

The unit is staffed by Critical Care nurses, and considers the most appropriate hospital for the clinical condition and acuity of the patient.
