The NSW government is has announced an innovative service to help Aboriginal defendants comply with Apprehended Domestic Violence Orders, will be piloted in 46 locations across the state, including Wagga, Narrandera and Griffith.

Mr. Speakman says 'What’s Your Plan?' is a world-first voluntary project, aimed at reducing domestic violence within Aboriginal communities, with Aboriginal defendants unfortunately accounting for a quarter of all breaches of ADVOs.

Those who volunteer will meet with an Aboriginal Client and Community Support Officer, to develop a tailored strategy to comply with the ADVO, including optional SMS reminders, and a follow-up call to check on their progress.
