New medical school to deliver 'end-to-end' doctor training in Wagga

More detail has been released by UNSW on the expansion of its Rural Clinical School in Wagga, saying it will deliver an end-to-end rural medical program here in the Riverina.

It will require a new state-of-the-art, purpose built facility based in Wagga, with UNSW saying it will also work closely with the Murrumbidgee Local Health District to offer opportunities for specialised postgraduate training.

Funding has been granted as part of the $95 million Murray Darling Medical School network outlined in the Budget on Tuesday night.

Director of Paediatrics at UNSW Medicine’s Wagga Campus, Associate Professor John Preddy, says it’s an exciting extension to their successful program that’s been running here in Wagga for 17 years.
