Research by the McKell Institute has shown workers in the Riverina electorate stand to lose more than $16 million under the Coalition Government’s cuts to Sunday penalty rates for retail and hospitality workers.

The figures have been highlighted by Labor Senator for NSW, Deborah O’Neill, who says of that, $7.45 million will leave the region’s economy.

Senator O’Neill says further, the report makes clear that slashing the income of workers will have a negative, not positive impact on job creation in these communities, reducing the amount of disposable income available to spend at local businesses.
