Two police officers have been treated for smoke inhalation during what may have been a deliberately lit house fire Tolland.

Officers say they were already in the area, patrolling after reports of fires being lit, and found a garbage bin under a carport of the home alight.

They forced entry and searched the house, concerned that there were people inside, however no-one was found.

It happened at about 3am yesterday in Weedon Street, neighbouring homes were evacuated, and the fire was extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW, however the home sustained significant damage.
