Daryl Maguire remains the Member for Wagga, despite having resigned from his position in government and from the Liberal Party in light of evidence presented by the Independent Commission against Corruption on Friday.

It included a recorded conversation between Mr Maguire and a former Canterbury Councillor discussing payment for brokering property deals with Chinese investors.

In a statement issued on Friday, Mr Maguire apologised for causing distress and embarrassment to the Liberal party, and for hurt and embarrassment he caused family, friends and colleagues, but made no mention of his constituents or the seat of Wagga.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian says whilst it is for Mr Maguire alone to determine whether he stays on as the elected Member until next Mach, she would encourage him to think carefully as to whether he can effectively represent the people of Wagga from here on in.
