The Rural Fire Service has suspended all fire permits in the Wagga, Junee, Coolamon and Lockhart Local Government Areas for 24 hours, until midnight.

RFS Operational Officer Bradley Stewart says it’s due to hot, dry and windy conditions, which can see fires spread rapidly, and the potential is still there for dangerous fire weather over the coming weeks.

Serious penalties apply for starting a fire without a permit during the Bush Fire Danger Period.
