A new prevention and awareness campaign is being launched throughout the Riverina today. Royal Life Saving Australia teaming up with the Federal Government urging us to 'respect the river'. 

The message is to avoid alcohol and know your ability when hitting the water, with an overwhelming percentage of drowning deaths occurring in men. 

Senior Research Officer Alison Mahoney says inland waterways are proving far more dangerous than our beaches.
