An explosion at a service station in Docker Street has left one person injured, and also caused a car accident, sending debris flying across the road.

It's believed tanks were being tested at the site at around 12.30pm, when there was a major failure in one of the pressure vessels.

Two cars were reportedly struck by debris and collided, though luckily the collision did not cause any further injuries.

Fire and Rescue NSW were called to the site and say fortunately, there awere no fuels on site.

Safework is investigating.
