Riverina residents are being advised to prepare for the possibility of heavy rainfall over the coming days, with the Bureau of Meteorology predicting the possibility of up to 130 mils before the end of the week.

Flood watches have been issued for the Tumut and Central Murrumbidgee Rivers, with an already wet catchment, there's the possibility that heavy falls could result in minor to moderate riverine flooding.

The Wagga SES unit has already started filling sandbags in preparation, they'll be doing so again this afternoon from 5pm, any local residents able to lend a hand encouraged to head down to SES headquarters on Fernleigh Road.
