The state government has reportedly refused to rule out police job cuts, amid plans for forced amalgamation of a number of Local Area Commands across the state, including a merger of the Wagga and Cootamundra LAC’s.

The Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party candidate for the Cootamundra by-election, Matthew Stadtmiller, has called on the Nationals’ candidate Stephanie Cooke, to join him in opposing any cuts to rural police numbers.

SFF leader Robert Borsak says he asked the government to rule out rural police job cuts in Upper House question time yesterday, but they refused to provide a 100 percent guarantee.
