Lockhart Shire Council has expressed concern about the data analysed from the traffic classifiers taken on Lockhart to Collingullie Road and Western Road, with the average speed detected in the zones sitting at 130km/h.

That’s despite the 100km/h speed limit, council saying one medium sized truck was detected travelling at 157km/h.

Council’s Road Safety Officer Kim Schultz says the speed being reported in regional areas of NSW is alarming, and it’s the single biggest killer, contributing to over 40 percent of the road deaths each year.
