A survey into issues surrounding domestic violence in Wagga has found, while the city has more conservative attitudes towards gender roles compared to national figures, 9 out of 10 people would intervene if they witnessed a domestic violence incident.

The DV Project 2650 is a joint project by CSU and the Wagga Women’s Health Centre, 1083 people were surveyed in Wagga in 2016-17.

It also found that men, those with low levels of education, and older people were significantly more likely to not recognise violent behaviours as being domestic violence, hold traditional views on gender roles in society, and justify domestic violence in some circumstances.
