Audit Declares Theatre Unsafe

Member for Cootamundra, Katrina Hodgkinson has ramped up efforts to stop the proposed closure of Temora Hospital’s operating theatre, after a recent audit by the Australian Council of Healthcare Services found it was unsafe for surgery.

It’s due to sub-standard air conditioning and wall suction, and under the current proposal, the Murrumbidgee Local Health District would move all future surgery requiring a general anaesthetic to Young or Cootamundra hospitals.

Ms Hodgkinson contacted the Premier and Health Minister, calling on them to do everything in their power to upgrade the theatre and ensure it remains open.

Health Minister Brad Hazzard has now demanded an explanation from the MLHD, as to why it failed to consult with him before announcing the plans.
