Former State Member for Wagga and Federal Member for Farrer Wal Fife, has passed away at the age of 88.

Mr Fife was elected to NSW Parliament to represent Wagga Wagga in 1957, at the age of 28.

He held a number of Ministries before making the move to Federal politics in 1975, where he was also a long-time frontbencher.

After the Fraser government was voted out in 1983 he stayed on in opposition for another decade, before retiring in 1993.

Mr Fife leaves behind wife Marcia, their two sons and two daughters.

Current Member for Riverina Michael McCormack has paid tribute to Mr Fife's service to our community, describing him as a remarkable man.
