Union Pushes for More Paramedics in Coolamon
Proposed Model a 'Dangerous Move'
The union representing local paramedics is stepping up their opposition to a decision by NSW Ambulance, to staff the new station at Coolamon largely with volunteers.
Australian Paramedics Association NSW President Steve Pearce says it’s a dangerous move, which will put the community at risk.
Mr Pearce says it makes no sense to spend $1.5 million on an ambulance station, then fail to properly staff the station with full-time trained paramedics.
The NSW Ambulance service is reportedly planning to recruit up to twelve volunteers for Coolamon, and three full-time, trained paramedics.
