Wagga Base Hospital management have come out in defence of staffing at the hospital, off the back of a meeting with the NSW Nurses and Midwives Association.

A spokesperson for the Murrumbidgee Local Health District described the meeting as ‘productive’, agreeing to take the Union’s concerns on board, and that reducing overtime is a priority.

However at the same time, the statement maintains that all wards are staffed in accordance with the Public Health System Nurses’ and Midwives’ Award, agreed upon with union representatives, and that overtime is closely monitored.
