Rapid flu testing is set to roll out at Wagga Rural Referral Hospital, as part of the largest program in the Southern Hemisphere.

The State Government is setting up new diagnostic tools at the spot, alongside, enabling doctors and nurses to make quicker triage and treatment decisions as pathologists will be able to figure out if we're positive for the virus in four hours, down from a whopping four days

It's not just about saving time and resources, it's expected to save lives for high risk groups like those with a heart condition, cancer or diabetes.

Wagga is just one of 23 hospitals getting the technology in New South Wales.
