Pasture and grain seeds from NSW, including some produced right here in Wagga have been sealed in Svalbard Global Seed Vault in Norway, as part of a worldwide doomsday project to safeguard our future.

The seeds were sealed in the Vault this week, located 1300 kilometres from the North Pole, which now houses pasture seed of 956 species from the NSW DPI collection.

Australia has been involved with the Global Seed Vault since 2014, with carefully selected seeds stored to give future generations the ability to draw upon vast array of genetic variability within major crops.
