A pilot program aimed at steering local young people away from crime will be expanded in Wagga, with the Riverina Medical and Dental Aboriginal Corporation awarded a $250,000 state government grant.

The initiative involves local sporting identities, Indigenous elders, Council, police and youth workers coming together to provide at-risk youth with the help they need to stay out of the juvenile justice system.

It’s focus will be on providing education, health and sporting activities, and positive role models for youth, in areas like Tolland and Ashmont.
