The Multicultural Council of Wagga has been awarded $173,000 in funding for educational initiatives about staying safe in and around the water, for local migrants and international students.

With temperatures rising and summer just around the corner, the funding is part of $1 million worth of water safety grants to help prevent drowning deaths across NSW.

This round is aimed at culturally and linguistically diverse groups, parents of infants and young children, and regional communities.
