Experts Encourage Group Baiting

Now Autumn has arrived livestock farmers across the Riverina are being encouraged to start planning fox baiting programs, working with Local Land Services and their neighbours to achieve the best results.

Invasive Species expert Reg Eade says group fox baiting programs have been proved to reduce numbers by around 86% protecting lambs and occasionally calves, as well as helping to stop the spread of disease.

It’s recommended to bait foxes in Autumn, when they’re on the move looking to establish territory, and follow up just before birthing season in late winter.

Meetings are being planned across the region to help co-ordinate control programs.
