Rubbish & Recycling

What you need to know

Of course, a massive public event like Skyworks 2018 means that a lot of rubbish is likely to be dispatched over the day.

However, the City of Perth have come up with a plan to minimise the impact. This from their website:

Last year more than 7.6 tonnes of recyclable material was collected during Skyworks. Let's all do the right thing and make 2018 even better!

Rubbish and Recycling Bags
Keep Australia Beautiful and Earth Carers volunteers will greet you as you arrive, and they will be roaming the foreshore and handing out rubbish and recycling bags throughout the afternoon.

Remember:
•        RED for RUBBISH
•        YELLOW for RECYCLING (empty aluminium, glass and plastic drink containers only)

Make sure you collect your bag from the volunteers and use it for all your litter and recyclables throughout the day.

Bin It
There will be many bins located around the Swan River foreshore.

Pay attention to the signs on the bins and put your rubbish or recycling in the correct bin.

When you have finished with the bags

  • drop your RED rubbish bags into the general waste bins (signed RED).
  • empty the contents of the YELLOW bag in to the YELLOW recycling bin. Put the empty YELLOW bag into the YELLOW bin.

Reduce Reuse Recycle Zones
The Mindarie Regional Council and its Earth Carers will be promoting the waste-wise message of reduce, reuse, recycle and dispose wisely.

Let’s leave the foreshore how we found it. Be part of the Reduce Reuse Recycle Zones on Langley Park and show you care for your country on Australia Day.
