This Sunday the South West Rail and Heritage Centre will celebrate a long-established trade with its “Blacksmith Bash” Open Day. Here visitors can not only observe the blacksmiths at work, but have the opportunity to chat to them and ask questions about their work.
As always, the Boyanup Foundation Blacksmiths will be working on a special project for the Blacksmith Bash Day, with master craftsman, Malcolm Paine introducing and instructing the blacksmiths in new skills and techniques to produce a very special piece of work.
Complementing this activity, the Preston River Old Machinery Group will also have some vintage machinery on show, the Capel Men’s Shed will be on site and the ever growing model railway will be operating. And the children will be thrilled to travel on imaginary journeys on the recently donated “Norm Flynn Express”. This large replica train was gifted to the South West Rail and Heritage Centre by the Bunbury Musical Comedy Group upon the completion of their production of “The Railway Children.”
The South West Rail and Heritage Centre is located in Turner Street Boyanup and will be open from 10am to 2pm. For more information, please contact Norm on 0459 712 552
