Bunbury to Host 2018 State Country Championships

Young Athletes To Compete At Hay Park

Bunbury will host the Little Athletics Western Australia 2018 State Country Championships in January.

Around 500 junior sports stars will compete from all over the state, including entrants from the Goldfields, Albany, Esperance, Broome and Geraldton.

The Championships will take place at Hay Park from January 26 to 28, with competitors aged between 5 and 16.

Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan says the City of Bunbury fully supports the event.

“It is fantastic that major sporting events such as the Little Athletics Western Australia 2018 State Country Championships are held in Bunbury,” Mr Brennan said.

“Bunbury has long been recognised as a major sporting hub and this event will bring families from far and wide who will either re-discover our City or experience all it has to offer for the first time."

Bunbury will also host other major sporting events over the coming months including the BMX Australia National Championships, the Australian Beach Games State Championships, the Action Sports Games, and the Bunbury City Classic Triathlon.
