Cultures of Bunbury will open at Bunbury Regional Art Galleries on Friday 26 May from 6pm.
The exhibition celebrates the ongoing Sister City relationship between Bunbury and Setagaya, Japan – a partnership which is coming up to its 25th anniversary this October.
On show are the 40 finalists from the 2017 Cultures of Bunbury photographic competition. The winner of the major prize will be announced during the evening, with the lucky photographer winning themselves a return trip to Japan. This fantastic prize has been made possible through the competition’s major sponsors Simcoa Operations and Bunbury Camera House.
Also included in the exhibition will be the top 40 images from the 2017 Setagaya photo competition, which explore everyday life in this Japanese city.
The exhibition will also feature a series of artworks which have been presented to the City of Bunbury from the City of Setagaya as gifts over the course of the 25 year relationship.
The exhibition will be on show from 27 May to 10 July.
