Got to love the honesty of kids and their ability to just be themselves!
I don’t know about you, but they just make me smile in their reckless abandonment to conforming to the world.
You’ll know what I’m on about after you watch this little video below.
It’s all part of LinkedIn’s latest campaign encouraging Aussies to be more open at work.
Turns out, 1 in 3 Aussie’s struggle to talk about mental health woes thinking it may hold them back in the workplace.
Data from the LinkedIn Survey shows fear of judgment and avoiding conflict are the two main reasons people hide the truth about themselves from others at work.
More than three-quarters of survey respondents also believe talking about your mental health is a career limiter.
So, perhaps it’s time to can the phrase, “she’ll be right mate” and be a little more open and be more yourself in the workplace.
Matt Tindale, Country Manager for LinkedIn, Australia and New Zealand said ‘bringing your whole self’ to work can benefit employees personally and professionally.
But, it requires you to get a little vulnerable and do it with others.
One of my favourite quotes around this is from Dr. Brene Brown, “true belonging only happens when we present our authentic, imperfect selves to the world.
Brené also went on to say, “We are facing a spiritual crisis of disconnection that in order to overcome, we must be willing to be vulnerable and reach out to those different from us”
If you need a little reminder or encouragement to be more of yourself, take a look at this.
You’re unique and exceptionally awesome!
