Construction of a playground that boasts a double cable ride and water play elements is well under way as the Koombana Foreshore revitalisation project moves towards a beach opening by December 22.

The playground is one of the highlights of the project and is expected to be a drawcard for families, who will have vastly improved facilities to enjoy at the popular beach once the revitalisation work is complete.

LotteryWest have contributed almost $600,000 to this amazing playground, which includes:

  • A double cable ride 40m in length;
  • Tramp playground, with trampolines embedded into the play area;
  • A 5m bridge net with climbing nets leading to two playground towers;
  • Water and sand play including a water mill, water trough, water basin and water table;
  • A rain circle, which is shaped like a ship’s wheel;
  • Double swing set, which includes spider web apparatus;

There will also be rubber soft fall underfoot, shade sails, lots of seating and room for kids to run around in the almost 1000 square metre play space directly adjacent to the beach.

All aspects of the revitalisation project are expected to be completed by 22 December, except the pedestrian bridge over The Plug and the kiosk. The kiosk will be undergoing internal fit-out until mid-February but visitors will still be able to enjoy refreshments with local business Hello Summer to operate from a food van. All toilet facilities surrounding the kiosk will be open to the public.
