Member for Forrest Nola Marino said people in the South West now have better access to psychological services under the Turnbull Government’s telehealth initiative.
Mrs Marino said a new Medicare rebate for online videoconferencing of mental health consultations with psychologists, social workers and occupational therapists is now available for people in rural Australia.
“People can now claim a Medicare rebate for online videoconferencing consultations with psychologists and other allied mental health professionals,” Mrs Marino said.
“Seven sessions are now available through Medicare’s mental health plans via videoconferencing.
“This measure ensures more people in the South West will have better access to vital services they need.”
Removing the travel for vital services is another policy aimed at improving access.
“People wanting to use telehealth psychological services can speak to their GP,” Mrs Marino said.
